What Does Bump Mean?

What does 'bump' mean in a message thread? I see it sometimes just by itself sitting there in the message. I know that this is some administrative term, but what does it mean exactly? tulsa

Im sure your aware that everytime someone post on a tread it moves up to the top of the board. when you see bump, this is just someone simply posting to bump the thread up to the top of the board to get more exposure, the lower a thread gets to the bottem the less people see it. Hench BUMP to move it back to the top.

i always like seeing the "bump" sign when i'm driving down the road. I hop up from my seat, unbuckle my seatbelt, and start to slamdance, then I am quick to realize what the sign REALLY MEANS, as I go flying across the car
